Closed Stack Access lets borrowers access items that are stored in the closed stack areas of a library. A closed stack area (such as a basement or separate storage location) is where a library stores items that are not physically accessible to borrowers. Closed stack items are usually historical books, art collections, outdated periodicals or items that are considered too valuable, rare, or controversial to allow the general public to have access to. In addition, many libraries store rarely used items in closed stack areas to free up library space.
This section gives an overview of the different tasks that you perform in Closed Stack Access and shows a workflow of the best way to accomplish these tasks. Also, Closed Stack Access uses a different type of user interface than other areas in Horizon. This section explains the different windows, buttons, and features used in this interface.
