Creating and editing a stock rotation route

A stock rotation route record defines a route code and description. It also contains a list of locations that are included in the route, how many days items should spend at each location, and the day of the week that an item should rotate from one location to the next.

Rotation routes are created in the table editor > rotation_route.

“rotation_route” is protected by privilege #691 (“ADM Stock Rotation Route Editing”). Without this permission, library staff members will not be able to create rotation routes.

To create or edit a stock rotation route

1 Do one of the following:
If you are creating a new stock rotation route, open the table editor > rotation_route, and click New.
If you are editing an existing stock rotation group, open the table editor > rotation_route, select the group you want to edit, and click Edit.

The Edit Stock Rotation Route window displays.

2 In the Route field, enter a name for the route (for example, “av”).
3 In the Description field, enter a text description of the route (for example, “Audio Visual Collection”).
4 In the Stops in Route field, specify route locations (or locations where items will stop in the rotation).

To create a new location, do the following:

a Under Location Route, click New.
b In the No. Days at Location field, enter in days how long items will remain at this specific location (for example, “30”).
c In the Ord field, enter a numeric value that corresponds to when in the rotation you want the items to be at this specific location (i.e. this location’s order in the rotation). Rotation will be based off of the lowest to highest numerical order of the locations.

For example, if you want to rotate items from location A to location B to location C, then you would enter 10 for location A, 20 for location B, and 30 for location C.

Note: It is recommended that you use integers of 10 (10, 20, 30, etc.) in the Ord field. This will allow you to add locations later if you wish.

d In the Location field, specify the library or branch code of the route location.
e In the Day of Week field, specify the day of the week you want items to rotate on. For example, if you specify “30” for No. of Days at Location and “Monday” for Day of Week, then items will be rotated to the next location on Monday following the 30th day.
5 Create as many locations (and their order) as you want in this particular route.
6 Click Save and close the window.
