Customizing the Information Portal Tabset
Information Portal searching has a set of tabs (or tabset) that is constantly at the top of each Information Portal page that users access. This tabset is made up of tabs and sub-tabs. Each tab and sub-tab displays an Information Portal page.
Each page that a user accesses in Information Portal is attached to a tab or sub-tab. This means that users click the tab or sub-tab to see the page that they want and perform the functions on that page.
Here are some things you determine when you customize a tabset:
•
The name of the tabs that you add. This makes each tab page unique within Information Portal. |
•
The types of tabs that you add. A tab can be one of these types: Account, Search, Category, or URL. This tab type tells Information Portal what displays on the page when users click its associated tab or sub-tab, based on its associated XSL template and the variables contained within the template. |
•
The sub-tabs that you assign to a tab. This lets users access additional pages. |
•
The XSL template that you assign to a sub-tab. Information Portal comes with default XSL templates that display searching specifics (or the main content) on a page. (For example, the XSL template for the basic search page specifies that there is a single text box entry field for the search term and that Information Portal should search on the general keyword index. The template also contains the Go button and Search label for the text box entry field.) You choose the XSL template that you want to use for a sub-tab. (For more information, see Adding a Sub-Tab to a Tab.) |

You can then change many of the “static” parts of the XSL template (such as the Search label) by changing a template’s variables. (For more information on variables, see Changing Variables.) |
