Information Portal lets you change most fields for an element when you access the search result display that the element is on. However, you cannot change the fixed element code or the element type for an element. To change this, you must delete the old element and add a new one.
If you want to add or delete elements from a browse display, then you can change the display by deleting the old display, then adding a new display from scratch with the new elements. (For instructions, see Changing a Search Result Display.)
Before You Begin
If you do not know all of the information to enter for the element that you want to change, then look at the information that is currently entered for that element in the display. You can write down this information and write down your changes before you add the new element.
To change an element in a search result display
1 | Delete the old element. (For instructions, see Deleting an Element from a Search Result Display.) |
You must first delete the old element so that the field location is available again.
2 | Add the new element. (For instructions, see Adding an Element to a Search Result Display.) |
Complete the fields with the same information as the old element, except for those fields that you want to change.
3 | Add this display to a result type, if it is not already added. (For more information, see Adding a Result Type.) |
4 | When you finish making changes in Information Portal, restart the Application Server process (JBoss). |
