Pre-defined limits are set up in Horizon and imported into a profile; they can only be used as you define them and cannot be changed by a user during a search. By default, the Information Portal pages display these pre-defined limits on both the Power Search and Advanced Search pages. Here is an example of defined limits on the Power Search page:
You can set up the limiting options that you want users to be able to use on the Power Search and Advanced Search pages. You can also set up groups of pre-defined limits so that users can narrow their searches using multiple limits.
You can create new pre-defined limits in Horizon and import them into Information Portal. You create these new pre-defined limits in the word_index view in Horizon. (For more information, see “Creating the Index Definition” in the “Setting Up a Keyword Index for Horizon Information Portal” section in the “Indexing” chapter of the Horizon System Administration Guide.)
