You must manually start and stop searching tracking every time that you want to collect search statistics. For example, if you want to keep search statistics for two weeks, you need to start searching tracking at the beginning of the two-week period. Then, when the two-week period is over, you need to stop search tracking.
To start and stop search tracking
1 | Open your Information Portal Administration tool web site. |
2 | Click the Status tab. |
3 | Click the Configure Statistics tab. |
The Administration tool displays the Configure Statistics page:
4 | Update or complete these fields: |
In this field |
Do this |
Enter the amount of time (in minutes) that you want Information Portal to wait before saving statistical data to the database. For example, if you enter “120” minutes, Information Portal will save searching data every two hours. Important: When choosing an amount of time, you should consider these things. If you choose a large amount of time, you may lose large amounts of information if the Application Server (JBoss) goes down. However, if you have Information Portal continuously saving statistics to the database, it will affect Information Portal’s performance. |
|
If you want to clear old search tracking information before you start a new session of search tracking, mark this box. Important: The information collected through search tracking remains in the system until you clear the search tracking table manually. SirsiDynix recommends that you clear the search tracking table every time that you start search tracking. |
5 | In the Search Tracking field, do one of these options: |
• | If you want to start search tracking, click On. |
• | If you want to stop search tracking, click Off. |
6 | Click OK. |
7 | When you finish making changes in Information Portal, restart the Application Server process (JBoss). |
