Viewing a Questions and Answers Record

Once you create a Questions and Answers record, you can search for and view the record in Information Portal or staff search windows. Generally, you use the same steps as you would for any kind of search in Horizon—keyword, alphabetical, or exact match. This section explains how to access the main Search window and move through various windows until you can view detailed information about the question and answer that you want.

To view a Questions and Answers record

1 Start a New Search.

To do this, press F2 or find the process in the Searching folder on the navigation bar.

Horizon displays the Search window:

2 Choose a search option from the Indexes list. (For more information, see “Keyword Searching” or “Alphabetical Searching” in the “Searching” chapter of the Horizon Basics Guide.)
3 Enter your search term in the Search for field.
4 Click OK or press ENTER.

Horizon displays a list of questions and answers that match your search term.

5 Choose an entry that you want more information about.

To choose more than one question at a time, press ALT and click on each question that you want to view.

6 Click Show Detail.

Horizon displays a Bib Detail record for the question and answer.

Note: This Questions and Answers record can be the same as the one your borrowers view. However, your library chooses which fields display on the Questions and Answers record for the different PAC flavors. (For more information, see About Setup.)

7 If you chose to display more than one question at a time, click Next or Previous Title to see the records for each of the entries you selected.
8 If you want to choose a related works category (for example, Subject), click Related Works.

Horizon displays related items that match your search term. (For more information, see “Viewing Related Works” in the “Searching” chapter of the Horizon Basics Guide.)

9 Click Cancel or press ESC to exit the Bib Detail record and all open windows.
