You can create reports to gather Information Portal usage and system statistics. In most cases, Information Portal collects these statistics as hourly, daily, or monthly totals and averages, and keeps them for you automatically. These statistics let you see the most popular ways and times that users access your library database through Information Portal. They can also help you determine ways to improve that usage.
For example, you can check the system statistics regularly to find out when Information Portal is used most often. These statistics can help you decide if you need to add more XSL processors. You can use Information Portal statistics to view how often the keyword indexes are used versus the browse indexes, how many broadcast searches are performed, or how often users view their account information online. Borrower statistics can tell you what user type most often accesses your library database through Information Portal.
You can also gather statistics using search tracking. Search tracking lets you see how your users use the searching process. (For example, the search tracking results show the number of searches, types of searches, and search terms that users use during a specified period of time.)
