Changing the Default Settings

Your My List borrower types are assigned default values when they are brought into Information Portal from Horizon during the Information Portal installation. These defaults let the borrower types work for the My List feature, whether you decide to change them or not. If you are comfortable with the default settings, you can leave them alone. If not, you can change them to better reflect the procedures that you have established for the My List feature at your library. You must apply these new default settings to each borrower type that they apply to individually.

To change the default settings

1 Open your Information Portal Administration tool web site.
2 Click the Setup tab.
3 Click the Other sub-tab.
4 Click the My List Borrower Types option.

The Administration tool displays a list of your borrower types.

5 Click Change Default.

The Administration tool displays the Change Default page:

6 Update these fields to change the default settings:

Field

Action

Maximum Lists

Enter the number of lists that you want a borrower type using this default setting to be able to save in Information Portal.

(For example, enter “10”.)

Maximum Bibs

Enter the number of bib records that you want to let the borrower types using this default setting be able to save in each list.

(For example, enter “30”.)

Duration

Enter the number of days that you want the borrower types using this default setting to be able to keep their saved lists.

(For example, enter “365”.)

There is a 30-day grace period for borrower My Lists. The borrower will not lose their list until 30 days past the expiration date.

Note: If you want to set this so that it does not expire, leave this field blank. (For example, you might not want the lists your staff create to ever expire.)

7 Click OK.

The Administration tool returns to the list of your borrower types.

Note: You must change the default settings for each borrower type individually. (For instructions, see Changing the Individual Borrower Types.)

8 When you finish making changes in Information Portal, restart the Application Server process (JBoss).
