Setting Up a Printer

You need to set up the printers that will print your closed stack request pull-slips. These printers will probably be located near your closed stack items and be used exclusively for printing request pull-slips. That way, the request pull-slips will be easy to access by library staff who are retrieving closed stack items.

You must set up your printers on the same server as your Horizon Application Server; otherwise, you cannot place closed stack requests. If you ever change the machine where your Horizon Application Server is installed, you need to update your closed stack printers. (For more information on your Horizon Application Server, see “System-Wide Settings” in the “General Setup” chapter of the System Administration Guide.)

If you want to reprint requests, you must set up the printer on the Horizon Application Server and the workstation where you want to reprint requests.

To set up a printer

1 Start the Printer Queue Administration process.

The default location of this process is the Circulation\Circulation Control Menu folder on the navigation bar.

Horizon displays the Printer Queue Administration grid:

2 Do one of these options:
If you want to add a new printer, double-click the asterisk and ellipsis () in the left-most column.
If you want to update a printer, double-click the button in the left-most column that is next to the location.

Note: If you want to, you can complete the fields in this grid by entering the information directly in each field; you do not have to open the form.
