Setting Up a More by Author Redirected Search

In some cases, you may need to do more than one task to set up a feature in Information Portal. Here is an example of what you need to do to make a More by Author redirected search work in Information Portal.

You can also use these steps to correct your setup if you get this error message: “Shortcut was not found. Aspect = BAW Shortcut was not found. Aspect = BAW.” (This message indicates that the Universal ID that you are using for this search is incorrect.)

To set up a More by Author redirected search

1 Click the Customize tab.
2 Click the Interface sub-tab.
3 Click the Variables option.
4 Click Copy next to the default Information Portal Other stylesheet.
5 Rename the copy using a unique name that includes the word “Other”. (For example, enter “Other by Author.”)
6 Click the variable file that you just entered.

The Administration tool displays the Edit Variables page.

7 Click Full Bib.
8 Click the More by Author Index label.
9 In the Value field, enter a Universal ID for a valid search on your system.

Note: SirsiDynix delivers BAW as the universal ID (UID) for the author keyword index. If your library does not have this index, you can choose an author list or a general keyword or another similar index on your system to associate with the BAW UID.

10 Click OK.
11 Click the Setup tab.
12 Click the Profiles option.
13 Choose the profile where you want to make this search available to your users.
14 Click the Variables Files option.
15 In the Other File field, choose the new copy of the Other variables stylesheet that you just created.
16 Click OK.
17 Repeat steps 14 through 16 for every profile where you want this search to be available.
18 When you finish making changes in Information Portal, restart the Application Server process (JBoss).
