Setting Up Local MARC Tags for Media Items

Cataloging staff should complete the tasks in this section.

After you have planned your Media Scheduling implementation, you can designate certain items in the Horizon database as media items if you want to. You do this by editing the bib records of your media items to include additional media-related information that Media Scheduling can recognize.

Media Scheduling lets you use the 938 and 950 tags to display item-specific information for media equipment and media items (such as model number and purchase price). If the 938 and 950 tags have not been created, you (or your system administrator) must create and define these tags if you want to add them to your bibliographic records.

Setting up these local tags is not necessary for items to be scheduled through Media Scheduling. It just provides a way for you to view more information about a particular media item.
