User tasks are tasks that a librarian or library staff member would complete using the software. These tasks may range from basic functions, such as logging in, to more advanced functions.
• | Searching for a borrower name. To make a media reservation, you must first locate the borrower name for the borrower who wants to reserve the media item. Media Scheduling lets you search for a specific borrower name by barcode or first and last name. |
• | Creating a media reservation. Media Scheduling lets you circulate media-related items by creating media reservations. A media reservation reserves the use of a media-related item for a particular date and time period. When you create a media reservation, you must first locate the borrower record for the borrower who wants to reserve the item. You must then indicate the date, time, and delivery/return locations for the reservation. Lastly, you must locate the item record for the media item the borrower wants to reserve. |
• | Editing a media reservation. After you have scheduled a new media reservation, you can edit or update the reservation if necessary. When you set up a new reservation, Media Scheduling notifies you if there are any conflicts with the previously established reservations, thereby allowing you to edit the new reservation to avoid conflicting with any existing reservations. |
• | Deleting a media reservation. After you have made a media reservation, you can delete or cancel the reservation if necessary. |
If a media item has been previously reserved and the reservation passes without the item being checked out, normal Horizon Day End processes automatically delete the past reservation.
If an item that is scheduled to be reserved is checked out and then checked in, Media Scheduling automatically deletes the media reservation after the reservation date passes.
• | Confirming a media reservation via e-mail. After you have made a media reservation, you can confirm the reservation with the borrower via e-mail. You can enter the borrower’s e-mail address manually when you send the confirmation, or you can store the e-mail address as part of the borrower’s record. |
• | Printing delivery, return, and hold slips. When you make a media reservation for a borrower, you can arrange to deliver and pick up the items being reserved. When you make the reservation for the particular media item, you can enter the delivery and return location information. Prior to delivery, you can use Media Scheduling to print Delivery and Return slips stating the specified delivery and return location information. |
