You can configure Information Portal so that when a user performs a keyword search from the Advanced Search or Power Search pages, Information Portal removes any duplicate entries from the initial search results window. This means that the user does not see multiple listings of the same title if your library has more than one copy of the same item or if you have configured Horizon Information Portal to search in multiple catalogs at the same time. The removing of duplicate entries is called “deduping.”
Information Portal uses identifying numbers to eliminate duplicate titles. This means that items with identical ISBN, ISSN, or LCCN display only once in the initial results list. Information Portal can also use OCLC control numbers for deduping, but this requires that you do some additional setup. (For instructions, see Using OCLC Control Numbers for Deduping.)
