Placing a Claimed Returned or Lost Item Block

If a borrower reports that an overdue item has already been returned or has been lost, you can change the Overdue block to a Claimed Returned or Lost block, respectively.

Your system administrator can set the Claimed Returned and Lost statuses to change to a “Missing” status after a specified number of days. (For instructions, see “Setting a Status to Change Automatically” in the “Preparing Horizon to Work with Item Records” section of the Circulation Setup Guide.)

To place a claimed returned or lost item block

1 In the Checkout window, identify the borrower.
2 Do one of the following:
To view all of the items the borrower has checked out, click All Items Out.

Horizon displays a list of all items checked out to the borrower.

To view all of the items checked out to family group members that the current borrower is permitted to view, click All Group Items Out.

Horizon displays a list of all items checked out to the borrower plus the checked-out items of group members who have given their permission. You can sort the list by borrower or due date by enabling or disabling Sort by Borrower on the CKO menu.

3 Highlight the overdue or lost title.
4 Choose CKO, Claim Returned or CKO, Lost.

Horizon assigns a “Claimed Returned” or “Lost” status to the item, depending on the one you chose.
