Assigning a Printer to a Closed Stack Location

After you set up the printers that will print request pull-slips, you need to assign them to a specific closed stack location. You can divide your closed stack location into smaller physical or logical areas using locations, collections, call number ranges, or any combination of these elements. (For example, you can assign a different printer to each collection in your closed stacks.)

After a borrower submits a closed stack request, Horizon looks at the request’s item record. The item record contains the ownership location, collection, and call number of the closed stack item. From this information, Horizon determines which printer should print the request pull-slip.

Here is an example of the closed stack areas and printer locations a library might have:

In this example, each of the three closed stacks contains a unique collection. Each collection in the closed stack area is assigned its own printer that is located near the collection.

Before you begin, if you have not already done so, set up your closed stack printers. (For instructions, see Setting Up a Printer .)
