Specifying General Properties

You can specify general properties for a view such as the description of the view, and the table it is based on.

To specify general properties

1 Open the view for the window that you want to reconfigure. (For instructions on opening the correct view, see Finding and Opening the Correct View.)
2 Choose the view that you want to edit, or create a new view.

Horizon displays an Edit Horizon View window:

3 Complete these fields as necessary:

This field identifies the view.

Do not change this name; it is system-created.

Description

Enter a description for the view.

This description can help identify the view if displayed in the list view window.

View Type

This field specifies the type of view and determines how it can be configured.

Do not change the view type.

Table Name

Enter the name of the table that the view is based on.

The table determines the columns that contain information displayed in the window using the view.

Window Title

Enter the title that appears on the window’s title bar.

Use this field to change the title of the window based on the view.

Help Panel ID

Do not change the information in this field.

Properties

This field specifies general parameters about the view. and is grouped into two categories.

Search Properties. Choose one or more of these options:

Slice. This option determines if a search view is an alphabetical browse list or a closed list. If this check box is marked, the view displays a closed list. Do not change this field for an existing view.
Xrefs. Mark this option if you want “see” and “see also” references to display in staff searching.

Command Properties. Choose one or more of these options:

Can Edit. Lets you edit a view.
Can Add. Lets you add to a view.
Can Copy. Lets you copy a view.
Can Delete. Lets you delete a view.

When you choose any of these options, Horizon enables the corresponding menu commands and button commands.

Mark this box to secure this window from public view.

4 Click Page Down or resize the window to display the Columns: ‘ord’ field:

5 Complete these fields as necessary:

Columns: ‘ord’

This field displays the ordinal number of the column.

Do not change the number in this field; the system uses this number to maintain the uniqueness of the view.

Creation Date

Enter the name of the column where the creation date of new rows in the table is stored.

Update Date

Enter the name of the column where the update date of new rows in the table is stored.

Base Table Name

Enter the name of the base table if the view is created from a SQL view.

6 Save your changes.
7 Do one of these options:
If you want to change additional properties for the view, continue with Specifying List Properties.
If you are finished changing view properties, exit Horizon and log back in to view your changes.
