After you have started all of your XSL processors, you must start the Application Server process. The Application Server process directs all the Application Server activities. (For example, when a patron executes a keyword search, the Application Server ensures that Information Portal searches the correct indexes and displays the correct search results.)
You must start all of your XSL processors before you start your Application Server process (JBoss). JBoss can connect only to running XSL processors as it starts. (For instructions, see Starting an XSL Processor (Windows 2003).)
To start the Application Server process as a console application
1 | Do one of these options on the Application Server: |
• | If you chose to put shortcuts on the desktop when you installed the Application Server software, double-click the Application Server icon on your desktop. |
• | Choose Start, Programs, SirsiDynix, Start Horizon Information Portal 3.20. |
Windows opens a DOS window. The Application Server process information scrolls on the window.
2 | If you want to, minimize the DOS window, but do not close it. |
To start the Application Server process as a service
If you log in and log out of your Application Server as a Windows user while the Application Server process is running as a service, the Application Server will shut down and restart. Information Portal will not be available to your users until the Application Server process restarts.
1 | Choose Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. |
2 | Right-click the HzApp service. |
3 | Click Start. |
The Status column changes to “Started”.
4 | Close all windows. |
