Creating a Header in M41 Format

M41 format uses a separate line in the header for each borrower table you specify. This means that each borrower record will contain one or more lines. The first line consists of:

An action code that indicates whether you are adding, deleting, and so forth. The action code must be added at the beginning of the line.

Note: For a list of action codes, see Choosing an Action Code.

The Borrower table, followed by a colon.
The name of one or more columns in the Borrower table you want to import separated by delimiters or fixed field width specifications.

Each following line uses a different table and columns to import information. They contain no action code. For each additional table that you specify, you must start a new line by pressing the Enter key. Text in a single line wraps to the next line if the information is longer than the space available.

Example 1-1: A multiple line (M41) format header:

When a data file is created using this format, it will look like this if the borrower has two addresses (if the borrower has one address, only one will be listed):

A-borrower:379-81-1227, O’Shea, Katie S.; Student
borrower_bstat:Soph
borrower_address:1; 259 N 325 W #28, Provo, UT 84601; 01-01-03; 06-01-04
borrower_address:0; 18774 Renwidk, Livonia MI 48152

Borrower_address_type is coded: 0=permanent, 1=temporary, and 2=mailing.

You can abbreviate table names. (For a list of abbreviations, see S41 Format Examples)
