Changing Profile Settings

You can change these settings for a profile:

Change the profile name. If you add a new profile to your Library, make a copy of an existing profile, or find that an existing profile name is inaccurate, you can change the profile name to accurately reflect what this profile is for.
Add a code for the profile. The profile code lets you access this profile from anywhere within the Information Portal Library’s user interface. The “profile=” qualifier at the end of the URL indicates which profile is being used. (For example, if you made a copy of the “Burr Ridge Public” profile so that you could create a profile for library staff, you can change the name “Copy of Burr Ridge Public Library” to “Burr Ridge Staff”.)
Change library hyper-text links and logos. You can change the text on the link to your library home page, the home page itself, and the library logo that is displayed when this profile is used. You may want to do this if you have a profile that children use and you want to have a shorter hyperlink to the home page or a different logo that appeals to children.
Choose which location’s holdings display. You can choose to have a profile limit search results to only the primary locations specified in the Horizon location that corresponds to that profile. (For more information on setting up primary locations, see the “PAC Primary and Secondary Locations” section in the “Searching Setup” chapter of the Horizon System Administration Guide.)
Specify a locale. Specifying a locale ensures that the differences in the way each country or nationality displays their currency is represented correctly on the Searching pages and My Account pages of the profile.

To change profile settings

1 Access the profile you want to change, or add a new one.
2 Click Profile Information.

The Administration tool displays the Profile Information page:

3 Update these fields to change the profile settings:

Field

Action

Profile Description

Enter the new name of the profile.

(For example, change “New Profile 1” to “Teens”.)

Profile Code

Enter a new code to represent this profile.

(For example, change “hil--1” to “teen”.)

Library Home Page URL (Optional)

Enter the full URL for the link to the library home page that you want to use.

(For example, enter “http://www.northbranch.lib”.)

This link displays on Information Portal under the Home tab.

Note: If you include both a home page URL and a logo, both the logo and the home page link text will become hyperlinks to your home page. If you leave this field blank, there will be no link to your home page.

Home Page Link Text (Optional)

Enter the text to display on the link to your custom home page.

(For example, enter “North Branch Home Page”.)

Library Logo URL (Optional)

Do one of these options:

If your logo is stored in the Information Portal images directory on your Application Server, enter this URL and path:

http://Application Server IP address or domain/ipac20/ipac/images/logo.gif

If your logo is stored somewhere else, enter the URL to the machine where your logo is, followed by the path to the logo file.

For example, enter this URL and path:

http://www.maplecounty.lib/html/graphics/logo.gif

Note: Custom logos must be an image type supported by your browser, such as a .gif or .jpeg file. A logo size in the range of 175 x 45 pixels displays well. If you chose not to include a home page URL, this logo will not become a hyperlink.

Location

Enter the location whose holdings you want to display first when a search is performed in Information Portal under this profile.

(For example, if you always want the holdings at the Main branch to display first, choose “Main”.)

Language

Enter the language that you want to be used in displaying results in this profile.

Multiple languages will be available in a future version of Information Portal.

Locale

Choose the region or nationality that you want to apply to any currency displays in this profile.

(For example, if you want your currency displayed in Mexican pesos with the correct symbol, choose “Spanish (Mexico)”.)

The locale code conforms to ISO 4217 and contains standard formatting information for the symbol, the negative currency display, and the decimal placement for each country’s monetary standards.

4 Click OK.

The Administration tool returns to the Edit Profile page.

5 When you finish making changes in Information Portal, restart the Application Server process (JBoss).
