Adding or Deleting Community Resources Search Options

When you initially open the main Search screen in the Community Resources database, you see browse and keyword indexes for all the Community Resources features. Before you start using the Community Resources database, you may want to add or delete specific Community Resources search options to different PAC flavors. This lets staff and borrowers search for only the Community Resources records that they want (such as Clubs and Organizations records, Fugitive Facts records, Newspaper Index records, and so forth).

You can review and change these search options for your PAC flavors. You can then decide which ones you want to add and which ones you want to delete. (For a list of the search options, see Searches, Search Indexes, and Search Options.)

You can achieve most, if not all, of your library’s Community Resources display needs with the default search options. However, you can also choose to edit an existing—or create a new—PAC flavor for the Community Resources search options. If you do this, be sure that each of the Community Resources search options you edit or create has the correct PAC flavor assigned. You assign this flavor in the Search field of the Edit Lister Search Lists window. (For more information on completing the fields in this window, see “Creating Search Options” in the “Searching Setup” chapter of the System Administration Guide. For more information on other tasks for PAC flavors, see “PAC Flavors” in the “Searching Setup” chapter of the System Administration Guide.)

If you want to, you can do other tasks with Community Resources search options. (For example, you can create a combined keyword search option.) You can do the same tasks for the Community Resources search options as you can with other Horizon search options. (For more information on other tasks for the Community Resources search options, see “Search Options” in the “Searching Setup” chapter of the System Administration Guide.)
