The settings in the EmailNotices-local.properties file can help you alleviate some problems that may occur with sending day-end email notification:
• | Depending on your Internet Service Provider (ISP), there may be some system lag that causes a back-up of emails when sending batch notices, which may randomly cause some emails in the batch to not be sent. |
• | Depending on your email service, the SMTP connection may time-out before all of the emails have been sent. |
To configure the batch email delay
1 | Open the EmailNotices-local.properties file in the SirsiDynix/Horizon directory. |
2 | Change the following values as needed. |
Field |
Action |
||||||
DELAY |
Specifies the delay to enforce between sending individual email messages. If you experience ISP lag that tends to drop messages, you can specify a delay between messages so messages don't get skipped. The value of the delay is expressed in milliseconds.
|
||||||
BATCHSIZE |
Specifies the number of emails to include in each email batch sent. If your email service times out during sending large numbers of day-end email notifications, you can divide the messages into batches of specific sizes. After Horizon sends a batch, it disconnects the SMTP connection and reconnects to send the next batch.

3 | Save the changes to the properties file. |
