There are three Firebird processes: Firebird Service, Firebird Guardian, and Firebird Server. These processes start together automatically, but are independent of the Application Server or XSL processes. If they are already running, you can stop and start the other processes without a problem. All three processes must be running before you start the XSL processor.
To start the Firebird process as a console application or as a service
1 | Choose Start, Control Panel, Firebird 1.5 Server Manager. |
Windows opens the Server Manager dialog box.
2 | Choose whether to run Firebird as a service or as an application by choosing the appropriate button. |
3 | Click Start. |
4 | Close the Control Panel. |
5 | Continue with Starting an XSL Processor (Windows 2003). |
