Changing a Search Result Display

If you want to change certain information about a search result display, such as the description of the display or the type of display, then you can change an existing search result display. You do this by deleting the old display, then adding a new display from scratch with the changed information.

Also, if you want to add or delete elements from a browse display, then you can change the display by deleting the old display, then adding a new display from scratch with the new elements.

Before You Begin

If you do not know all of the elements to enter for the display that you want to change, then look at the elements that are currently entered for that display. You can write down this information and write down any changes before you delete the old display and add the new one. You should write down the element information because you cannot copy the existing display to change the description, type of display, and so forth.

To change a search result display

1 Add the new display from scratch. (For instructions, see Adding or Accessing a Search Result Display.)

Complete the fields with the same information as the old display, except for those fields that you want to change. Also, enter the same elements as the old display, except for those elements that you want to change. If you have not already deleted the old display, then you can check the old display to be sure that the elements are correct.

2 Delete the old display. (For instructions, see Deleting a Search Result Display.)
3 When you finish making changes in Information Portal, restart the Application Server process (JBoss).
