Deleting a Profile

You can delete profiles that are no longer necessary. (For example, you may delete a profile that you are no longer using, or if you created a profile by mistake.) Your Library must have one profile to control the location and searching environment. Therefore, the default profile cannot be deleted; however, you can delete any additional profile copies or new profiles that are available for Information Portal.

(This task affects only Information Portal. It does not delete anything on your Horizon server.)

If you have hyperlinks on your Home page or elsewhere that point to a specific profile, and you delete that profile without updating these hyperlinks’ URLs, Information Portal will use the default profile instead. You should delete, modify, or re-create these hyperlinks so that they point to the profile you want. (For instructions, see Making a Profile Available to Users or Staff.)

To delete a profile

1 Open your Information Portal Administration tool web site.
2 Click the Setup tab.
3 Click the Libraries sub-tab.
4 Click the name of your Library.
5 Click the Profiles option.

The Administration tool displays the profiles for your Library.

6 Find the profile that you want to delete.

Note: You cannot delete the default profile because Information Portal must have at least one profile.

7 Click Delete next to the profile.

The Administration tool deletes the profile from the list of available profiles for your Library.

Note: This task affects only Information Portal. It does not delete anything on your Horizon server.

8 When you finish making changes in Information Portal, restart the Application Server process (JBoss).
