Adding a MARC Map to a Full Bib Display View

If a MARC map is not listed in a full bib display view, then you can add it to the view. (For more information on discovering if a MARC map is listed in an view, see Checking that the MARC Map is Listed in the Full Bib Display.)

To add a MARC map to a full bib display’s view

1 Open the mq_view view in the Table Editor.

Horizon displays the Search window with the mq_view index highlighted.

2 Search for the view of the PAC full bib display that you want to check or load all views.
3 Choose the view you want.
4 Click Page Down or resize the window until Horizon displays the List View group.
5 Click on the list in the upper-right corner of the group.

Horizon displays a drop-down list of columns and the MARC maps used by each column that display on this full bib display:

Since the MARC map you want assigned to a column is not on the list, you must add a column and assign a MARC map to it.

6 Determine the ord number that you want to assign to the new column based on the ord numbers already assigned to other columns.

Note: The ord number controls the order this column displays in the list window.

7 Click New.
8 Complete these fields for the new column in the group:

Field

Action

Column Name

Enter “bib#” as the column name.

Ord

Enter the number for the order in which you want Horizon to display this MARC map.

(For example, enter “15”.)

Column Label

Enter the description that you want borrowers to see for this MARC map.

(For example, enter “Name”.)

No. of Display Characters

Enter the number of characters that you want Horizon to display for this MARC map.

(For example, enter “100”.)

Pad Character

Enter the number of characters that you want to have Horizon use as spaces before and after the label.

(For example, enter “5”.)

Properties

Mark the Displayed box.

The Properties setting tells Horizon how to display the MARC map.

marc_map

Enter or choose the code of the MARC map that displays data for this column.

9 Click Save to add the MARC map to the group.
10 Repeat steps 5 through 9 for each MARC map that you need to add to this full bib display.
11 If you want to, you can do other tasks with this view. (For more information, see the “Introduction to Horizon Views” chapter of the System Administration Guide.)
12 Save your changes.
13 Add the tags that you want to the appropriate workforms. (For more information, see About Workforms.)

You can now begin adding Community Resources records and searching in Community Resources.
