If you have enabled Auto-Renew for a location, specify the number of times Horizon can renew (circulation parameter 56) items in the collection based on OPAC location, circulation location, borrower location, item location, borrower type, and item type.
You can set up exceptions or allowances for Auto-Renew, depending on how you want it to work. For example, you can set up to Auto-Renew, but then restrict automatic renewal maximums to certain types of books. Alternatively, you can set up to disallow Auto-Renew at a certain library location.
Auto-Renew cannot be enabled for a location if it is disabled in the Location table.
To set the maximum number of automatic renewals
1 | Set up Maximum Auto Renewals Allowed (circulation parameter 59). |
For general instructions, see Setting Up or Editing a Circulation Parameter. Then use the remaining steps of this task to customize the parameter.
2 | In the Value field, do one of these options: |
• | If you want to allow Auto-Renew with some restrictions, specify the maximum number of times an item can be renewed automatically. |
• | If you want to restrict Auto-Renew apart from a few exceptions, type “0” (zero). |
3 | If you want to create or edit any exceptions or allowances, do these steps in the Special Values group: |
a | Choose the exception that you want to change, or create a new exception. |
b | Type in or choose a code in one or more of the OPAC Location, Circulation Location, Borrower Location, Item Location, Borrower Type, or Item Type group fields. |
Note: The exception value set here overrides the default value for this parameter.
4 | Save your changes. |
5 | Restart Horizon so the system can commence using Auto-Renew. |
