If you deliver items to borrowers, you may want the stop numbers to reflect their geographical order on the route. (For example, you may want the first borrower on a route to have stop number 1, the second borrower on that route to have stop number 2, and so on.)
To achieve this, you will probably need to manually change borrowers’ stop numbers on occasion. (For example, after you assign a new borrower to Home Service, you need to manually change the stop number assigned by Horizon to whatever stop number reflects the borrower’s geographical position on the route.)
When you manually change a borrower’s stop number, you have to choose a stop number that is not already used on that route. As a result, you may need to also change the stop numbers of one or more other borrowers to free up the stop number you want.
For example, if you want to move a borrower to the beginning of the route, you cannot assign the borrower to stop number 1 until that number is freed up. But you cannot change stop number 1 to 2 until that number is also freed up, and so on.
To make the change, you need to assign a temporary stop number to a borrower, then work “from the bottom up” to reassign the other stop numbers accordingly.
Suppose you have these stop numbers on a route: |
And you want to move Laura to stop number 1, like this: |
Stop #1: Dan Abel Stop #2: Erika Boune Stop #3: Laura Graham |
Stop #1: Laura Graham Stop #2: Dan Abel Stop #3: Erika Boune |
To make the change, do these steps:
1 | Assign a temporary stop number (any number that is not in use on that route) to Laura. |
For exmaple, “Stop #100: Laura Graham”
This frees up stop number 3.
2 | Assign stop number 3 to Erika: |
“Stop #3: Erika Boune”
This frees up stop number 2.
3 | Assign stop number 2 to Dan: |
“Stop #2: Dan Abel”
This frees up stop number 1.
4 | Assign stop number 1 to Laura: |
“Stop #1: Laura Graham”
When you finish changing the stop numbers on a route, you need the same group of stop numbers you started with. (For example, if you started with stop numbers 1, 2, and 3, as in the above example, you need to end up with those same stop numbers. You should not, for example, end up with 1, 2, and 4.) Otherwise, Horizon will not be able to automatically assign the extra stop number you used (# 4) to a future borrower. When you try to save a borrower record that is supposed to have the stop number you used, Horizon will display an error message.
To change a borrower’s stop number
1 | Determine all the stop numbers you must change to get the results you want. |
2 | Start the Update Home Service Delivery Sequence process. |
The default location of this process is the Home Service folder on the navigation bar.
Horizon opens the List Delivery Sequence window.
3 | Double-click the borrower whose stop number you want to change. |
Horizon displays the Edit Delivery Sequence window:
4 | Enter the stop number you want to assign to the borrower. |
The stop number you enter cannot already be in use on that route.
5 | Click Close. |
6 | Repeat steps 3 through 5 for any other stop numbers you need to change. |
7 | When you finish changing the stop numbers on a route, make sure you end up with the same group of stop numbers you started with. |
For example, if you started with stop numbers 1, 2, and 3, make sure you end up with those same stop numbers.
