SirsiDynix does not recommend that most libraries use automatic request filling. When requests are filled automatically, Horizon changes the status of the request to filled regardless of whether the item is found or if the borrower picks up the item.
Also, Horizon does not track the requested closed stack item. (For example, because the requested item’s status does not change, you do not know whether the item is being used by a borrower or is still on the shelf.)
Before you begin, if you have not already done so, set up requests to be filled automatically at this closed stack location. (For instructions, see Creating a Closed Stack Location.)
To fill a closed stack request automatically
1 | Use the request pull-slip to find the requested closed stack item. |
2 | Take the request pull-slip and closed stack item to its designated pickup area. |
After the request’s auto fill minutes expire, the request will be considered “filled.” Horizon changes the request’s status to “Auto Fill.” The item’s status does not change.
3 | Give the item to the borrower. |
