Copying a Newspaper Index Record
If you have several articles that you want to index from the same edition of a newspaper, you can copy an existing bib record and update some of the fields. Copying a record saves you time and reduces the chance of error.
To copy a Newspaper Index record
To do this, press F2 or find the process in the Searching folder on the navigation bar.
2
Search for the Newspaper Index record that you want. (For instructions, see Viewing a Newspaper Index Record or the “Searching” chapter of the Horizon Basics Guide.) |
3
Proceed with the search until Horizon displays either a Titles List window or the Bib Detail window. |
4
Do one of these options: |
•
If Horizon displays a Bib Detail window, continue with step 5. |
•
If Horizon displays a Titles List window, choose the article that you want to copy. |
To choose more than one article at a time, press ALT and click on each article that you want to copy. If you choose more than one article from a Titles List window, Horizon sends all the records that you select to Cataloging.
5
Press F10 or choose Edit, Send to. |
Horizon opens the Send To dialog box.
6
Double-click the process to which you want to send the record. |
7
Choose File, Copy Record. |
Horizon displays both the original bib record and the newly created copy, and displays “-new-” in the copy’s title bar.
Note: The duplicate bib record does not yet have a record number assigned to it. When you make changes to the record and save those changes, Horizon assigns a number to the new bib record.
