Changing the URL for a URL-Type Tab

If you have a URL-type tab, you can change the web page that tab accesses. You do this by updating the URL for the tab. (A URL-type tab lets users access a web page that is outside of Information Portal.) The URL that you specify for this tab is the URL for the web page that Information Portal will link to when users click the tab.

For more information on the URL-type tab, see Adding a Tab.

To change a URL for a URL-type tab

1 Access the tabset for which you want to change the URL tab. (For instructions, see Adding or Changing a Tabset.)

The Administration tool displays the Edit Tabset page.

2 On the displayed tabset, click the tab for which you want to change the URL.

The Administration tool displays the Update Tab page.

3 In the URL field, replace the old URL with the new URL for the web page that you want Information Portal to display when users click this tab.

For example, enter http://www.loc.gov for the Library of Congress web site.

4 Click OK.

The Administration tool displays the Edit Tabset page again. (It does not display a page for adding or editing sub-tabs because a URL tab cannot have sub-tabs. When a user clicks on a URL tab, Information Portal sends the user to the web page for that URL.)

5 If you added a new tabset, assign the tabset to the library profile for which you want to use it. (For instructions, see Changing the Tabset Assigned to a Profile.)
6 When you finish making changes in Information Portal, restart the Application Server process (JBoss).
