Adding an External Link to a Library Profile

After you add an external link to an Information Portal Library, you must add it to a specific library profile in order for it to display on the full bib page and be available for use. You can add an external link to one or more library profiles according to your specific needs.

To add an external link to a library profile

1 Access the library profile to which you want to add an external link.
2 Click the External Links option.

The Administration tool displays the External Links page.

If there are external links defined for this Information Portal Library, the Administration tool displays the Add External Link option.

If the Add External Link option is not displayed, then no external links have been defined for this Information Portal Library. (For instructions on adding an external link to an Information Portal Library, see Adding or Deleting an External Link for a Library.)

3 Click Add External Link.

The Administration tool displays the Add External Indexes page:

4 Complete these fields:

Action

External Link

Choose the link that you want to add to the library profile from the drop-down list of external links that have been defined for the Library.

Label

Enter the label, or name, of the link in the way that you want it to display on the full bib page.

Position in List

Choose the number of the position in which you want the link to display on the full bib page.

5 Click OK.

The Administration tool adds the external link to the library profile and then displays it in the list of links that have been added to this library profile.

6 Repeat steps 3 through 5 for any additional links that you want to add to this library profile.
7 Click Done.
8 When you finish making changes in Information Portal, restart the Application Server process (JBoss).
