Requesting Closed Stack Items
After your system administrator sets up Closed Stack Access, library staff and borrowers can search for and request closed stack items. Library staff can place a closed stack request using staff searching. A borrower can place a closed stack request over the Internet using Horizon Information Portal.
When a borrower requests a closed stack item, Horizon checks these things:
•
Does the item belong to a closed stack location? |
•
Is the item currently available in the closed stack area? |
•
Can an item with this status be requested? |
•
Is this a valid borrower? |
•
Did the borrower enter the correct PIN number for the borrower barcode? (If the library requires use of a PIN number.) |
•
Can a borrower with this BTYPE place requests? |
If these conditions are met, the borrower may place a request for the item. During the request, a borrower may be able to choose a pickup area from a list. After submitting the request, a message displays the pickup area and the time when the item will be available.
