Once you create your search category groups, you can assign them for Information Portal to use. This way, your users can access and use the quick searches in the group.
When you assign a search category group, you can choose how you want Information Portal to display the categories in the group. You can choose to have Information Portal display the search categories in one of these ways:
You must have your search categories assigned as an Information Portal search (as opposed to a sub-category) for either the root search categories or the next level under your root categories.
• | Only the root search categories in a search category group (or the first level only). For example, Information Portal might display something like this on a searching page: |

To assign a search category group for Information Portal to use
1 | Open your Information Portal Administration tool web site. |
2 | Click the Customize tab. |
3 | Click the Interface sub-tab. |
4 | Click the Tabset option. |
The Administration tool displays the Tabsets page.
5 | Click the name of the tabset to which you want to assign a search category group. |
The Administration tool displays the Edit Tabset page.
6 | Click Edit Sub-Tabs. |
7 | Click the tab that has the sub-tab that you want. (For example, click the Search tab.) |
8 | Click the sub-tab where you want to assign a search category group. |
The Administration tool displays the Update Subtab page:
9 | In the Additional Parameters field, do one of these options: |
