A redirected search determines which data elements in a display can be made a hyperlink or “redirected” on a search page. When users click the redirected element, Information Portal performs a new search. You choose which elements are hyperlinked and what kind of new search Information Portal performs when users click the hyperlink. (For example, your library may want to let users click on the title on the full bib page to see the information contained in the title’s 856 tag.) You can redirect a search on any search page for which you have a display. (For more information on displays, see Customizing a Search Result Display.)
There are four types of redirected searches that you can add:
(For example, you could redirect the author element on the full bib display to display the author in an alphabetical browse list of authors.)
However, you could also use this type of redirected search to let users indirectly search on indexes that they might not normally search on or that your library does not let them search on.
(For example, you could redirect a publisher element on the full bib display to display the publisher in a browse list of publishers, or you could redirect a music number on a full bib display to display the music number in a browse list of music numbers.)
(For example, you could redirect the author element on the full bib display to display the author in a summary list of titles about the author.)
• | Summary to Full Display. For this type of redirected search, users click on the element in the display that you choose, and Information Portal displays the full display. |
(For example, you could redirect an image element for book covers that Information Portal displays on a summary list display, which when clicked, displays the full bib page for the book’s title.)
(For example, you could redirect the title on the full bib display to display the web page for the URL in its 856 tag.)
This uses the information from the 856 tag on your Horizon server, as long as you have your 856 tags set up correctly (or mapped) on your Horizon server. (For more information on MARC mapping on your Horizon server, see “MARC Maps” in the “General Setup” chapter of the Horizon System Administration Guide.)
Which type of redirected search you choose depends on what type of results you want Information Portal to display.

(For example, choose “Author Keyword”.) Information Portal performs the search when users click the redirected search hyperlink. Browse to Summary/Full Display |
Complete these fields to redirect a search to a browse search list:
Information Portal takes the index (or qualifier) from the result type and performs a new search using that index. This result type can be the same as the Destination Search Result Type, if you want.
This is the display in which Information Portal displays the new search results after users click the redirected search hyperlink.
