Advisor Records

A Home Service advisor is a library staff member, borrower, or volunteer who is responsible for one or more Home Service routes. In general, advisors see that borrowers on their routes receive items on a regular basis.

Here are some specific tasks advisors may perform:

Determine when borrowers are due for a visit.
Choose appropriate items and gather them from the shelves.
Check out and distribute the items.
Retrieve and check in the items.

For more information on these tasks, see About Use.

Each advisor may or may not perform all these tasks, depending on your preference. (For example, you may assign one advisor to actually distribute all the items.)

You need to create an advisor record for each advisor who will be assigned to one or more routes. The advisor record lets you specify his or her name, address, skills, and other information.

You will probably create most of your advisor records when you set up Home Service for the first time. After that, you can create more advisor records for new advisors as necessary.

After you create an advisor record, you can assign it to one or more routes. (You assign an advisor to a route by accessing a route record. For instructions, see Creating or Editing a Route Record.)

You can also assign borrowers to the advisor’s routes. (You assign a borrower to a route by accessing the borrower record. For more information, see Borrower Records.)
