A Home Service borrower circulation type (BTYPE) determines the circulation privileges for a category of Home Service borrowers, such as students or adults. (For complete information on BTYPEs, see the Circulation Setup Guide.)
You need to create a BTYPE record for each Home Service BTYPE you want to use. You can create a Home Service BTYPE record from scratch, or you can copy an existing BTYPE record and change it as necessary. After you create a BTYPE record, you can assign it to the Home Service borrowers who fit in that category. (For instructions, see Borrower Records.)
When you create a Home Service BTYPE record, you have to assign it to a Home Service delivery type. The delivery type tells Horizon that it is a Home Service BTYPE and specifies how borrowers with the corresponding BTYPE will receive Home Service items (delivery or mail). The appropriate wording will be printed on issue slips. (For more information, see Issue Slips.)
You can choose from two standard delivery types:
If you want to use both of these delivery types for a certain category of borrowers, you can create two BTYPE records. (For example, if some Home Service students should receive items by mail, and some by delivery, you could create these BTYPE records: “Home Service Student - Delivery” and “Home Service Student - Mail.”)
Besides the standard delivery types, you can use a third delivery type if you have “institution borrowers”:
You will probably create most of your Home Service BTYPE records when you set up Home Service for the first time. After that, you can create more BTYPE records for new categories of borrowers as necessary.
After you create a Home Service BTYPE record, you may want to exclude the BTYPE from certain limits, such as due dates, renewal options, and fine calculation.
