You can add secondary or “alternate” universal IDs so that you can search your local Horizon library and any Z39.50 libraries for titles in a power search (or at the same time). If you want to allow Z39.50 broadcast searching for an index, the search for a remote library must use the same universal ID as the ID assigned to your local Horizon index. If your existing ID does not match the remote library’s ID, you must add an alternate universal ID. (For example, if the search at a Z39.50 library uses “GK” as the universal ID for a General Keyword search, you must have “GK” as the primary or one of the alternate universal IDs for your General Keyword index. If you use a different universal ID, such as “GW,” you must add “GK” as an alternate universal ID for that index.)
You can assign multiple alternate universal IDs to an index to let multiple libraries search that index. (For more information on secondary universal IDs for your primary library profile, see Setting Up a Horizon Index Limit.)
