As the system administrator, you need to set up the parameters that control how Closed Stack Access functions. First, you need to create a closed stack location and pickup areas where borrowers can get their requested items. Then you set up printers to be used for closed stack request pull-slips. After that, you set up item statuses and circulation parameters to work with Closed Stack Access.
As you set up your locations, it will be helpful to know your physical library environment (for example, where you want the closed stack printer and pickup areas to be located within a library). You may want to create a sketch of your library’s environment to help you complete these setup tasks.
You must complete the following setup tasks in this order:
1 | Setting Up a Closed Stack Location |
This setup task includes creating a closed stack location, creating pickup areas, and setting up lead times for pickup areas.
2 | Setting Up Closed Stack Print Parameters |
This setup task includes setting up printers and assigning them to a closed stack location. If you want to, you can also assign a backup printer to a closed stack location.
3 | Importing Staff Borrower Types in Horizon Information Portal |
4 | Determining Closed Stack Statuses |
5 | Setting Up Closed Stack Circulation Parameters |
6 | Setting Up the Closed Stack Request List by Location (Optional) |
