User-defined limits let Information Portal users construct their own limiting parameters. Here is an example of a user-defined limit on the Power Search page:
A user-defined limit is made up of three parts: the type of limit, the operator (=, <, >), and the term or value. The types and operators in Information Portal come from the user-defined limits that are set up in Horizon. (For more information, see “Search Limits” in the “Searching Setup” chapter of the Horizon System Administration Guide.) The user can enter any appropriate term or value.
Users can choose one item for each part (type, operator, and value) to limit their searches. (For example, to find all items with a publication date of 1988, a user would choose PUBDATE for the type and = [equals] for the operator, then enter “1988” as the value to create a user-defined limit of “PUBDATE = 1988”.)
You can add, rearrange, or delete user-defined limits for a search page attached to a sub-tab.
