Setting up ACS Parameters in Horizon for 3M SelfCheck

Horizon provides enhanced features to the Automated Circulation System (ACS). ACS lets you communicate information between a Horizon database and third-party systems such as 3M SelfCheck. If your library uses multiple devices that communicate to databases using ACS, you can now connect these multiple devices to Horizon. Each device you connect to Horizon now has its own profile. If you are part of a consortium with multiple libraries using the same type of device, each library can also have its own profile.

You can have a default profile for every selfcheck_control record on your database. You can also create new library-specific profiles and add those profiles to your selfcheck_control records.

Horizon has item and borrower block overrides specific to ACS. These overrides let you set limits, such as maximum items lost or maximum days overdue, that are independent from regular circulation parameters.

In addition, you can choose whether to truncate a loan period or allow renewals when a borrower’s library card expires during a loan period.
