Enabling the SMS day end process

After you have done all the necessary configuration steps, you are ready to enable the daily day end processing that will generate notices for pre-overdue items, overdue items, and holds available for pickup.

To enable the SMS day end process

1 Open the menu view in the Table Editor.

Horizon displays a list of menus and their options.

2 Choose File > Search (or press Ctrl+F2) to display the Search List window.
3 Search for the MDESave menu.

Horizon displays the MDESave menu.

4 Double-click the "Generate Day End SMS Notices" Day End option.

Note: For detailed information on the Day End menu options, see "A Listing of Day End Processes" in the "Maintenance and Day End" chapter of the System Administration Guide.

Horizon displays the Edit Menus view for the inactive SMS day end process.

5 In the Menu field, enter MDayEnd to move the process to the active menu, or use the Codes button to select the MDayEnd menu.
6 Save your changes and close the window.
7 Open the menu view in the Table Editor.

Horizon displays a list of menus and their options.

8 Choose File > Search (or press Ctrl+F2) to display the Search List window.
9 Search for the MDayEnd menu.

Horizon displays the MDayEnd menu.

10 Verify that "Generate Day End SMS Notices" now displays as a menu option.
11 Next, you must change the Option No. of "Generate Day End SMS Notices" to a value that comes after "Day End: Set Overdues" but before "Generate Notices". This must be done because SMS notices generation needs to run before the mail notice generation.
a To change the value, select the "Generate Day End SMS Notices" menu option and click Edit.
b Type a new value for Option No.
c Save your changes and close the window.

The SMS day end process will start at the next scheduled daily day end process.
