If you chose to open another sub-category while creating another search category, then you must complete the information for the sub-category. Also, you can change any information for an existing sub-category.
To add or change a sub-category
1 | Open your Information Portal Administration tool web site. |
2 | Click the Customize tab. |
3 | Click the Interface sub-tab. |
4 | Click the Search Categories option. |
The Administration tool displays the Search Categories page.
5 | Find the root search category with the sub-categories that you want to add or change. |
6 | Click Edit Sub-Categories next to the search category. |
The Administration tool displays the Edit Sub-Categories page.

To do this, open a new browser window. Access your Information Portal searching web site. Perform the search that you want Information Portal to perform when users click on this search hyperlink. In the URL or address field of your browser window, find the session ID number for your search session. (This session ID is a number that comes after the “session=” variable.) Copy everything after the session ID number, including the first ampersand ( & ). Paste that portion of the URL in this URL field.

If you want Information Portal to place an image next to this search category or search, enter the path for the image. You can use images for a kid’s PAC or to help users understand the categories and searches by providing pictures or other visual clues. |

Number of Columns |
Choose the number of columns that you want the search categories and searches split into on the Information Portal Category search page. (For example, if you choose two columns, Information Portal will split your search categories evenly between the search categories and searches into two columns.) |
9 | Click OK. |
The Administration tool displays the Edit Sub-Categories page again.
10 | If you chose to open sub-categories for the URL Type, repeat steps 7 through 9. |
11 | When you finish making changes in Information Portal, restart the Application Server process (JBoss). |
