Starting Processes for Information Portal (Windows 2003)

You can start Information Portal processes as console applications or as services.

If you choose to start a process as a console application, the system displays a window scrolling through information about the process. You must keep this window open as long as you want the process to run. A console application will not start again if you have a power outage or a crash.

If you start the process as a service, you will not be able to monitor output, but the process will continue to run even after you log off the system and will start automatically when the server reboots.

Choose which way you want to start the Information Portal processes and complete these tasks in this order:

1. Starting Firebird (Windows 2003)
2. Starting an XSL Processor (Windows 2003)
3. Starting the Application Server Process (Windows 2003)
