Assigning a Backup Printer

After you assign your printers to specific closed stack areas, you might want to create a backup printer that acts as a catch-all for all your closed stack areas. If you do not create a backup printer, all requested items whose collection types or call numbers are not assigned to a printer will have their pull-slips printed on your system printer. If you want to avoid this, you can set up a backup printer that can be located in your closed stack area. That way, the backup printer will print pull-slips for requested items whose collection types and call numbers are not assigned to a printer.

For example, a borrower may request an item from your Reference collection. If you have not assigned a specific printer to this collection, a pull-slip will be printed to your system printer unless you assign a backup printer to your closed stack area.

Before you begin, if you have not already done so, set up your closed stack printers. (For instructions, see Setting Up a Printer .)
