If a borrower’s library card expires during a loan period, you can choose whether to have the loan period truncated or allow the user to complete a full loan period. Or, you can choose whether you want to allow a borrower to renew an item when they have an expired library card.
You set this up in different places in Horizon, depending on whether you wan t to set this up for Information Portal and Telephone Messaging or for a device with a selfcheck profile.
To choose whether to truncate a loan period or allow renewals for Information Portal or Telephone Messaging
1 | Open the matham table in the Table Editor. |
2 | In the HIP/TeleCirc Expired Borr Renewal field, choose one of these options: |

Not allow renewal |
Choose this option if you do not want to allow renewals for borrowers with expired library cards. |
Truncate due date |
Choose this option if you want to truncate the due date of an item so that the item is due when the library card expires. |
Use full loan period |
Choose this option if you want to allow the full loan period for a borrower with a library card that will expire. |
3 | Save your changes. |
To choose whether to truncate a loan period and not allow renewals for a device with a selfcheck profile
1 | Open the selfcheck_control view. |
2 | Choose the selfcheck profile for which you want to truncate the loan period, or create a new profile. |
Horizon displays the Edit Selfcheck Control window.
3 | Mark the Truncate CKO box to truncate a load period and not allow renewals. |
4 | Save your changes. |
