After you have created and defined the 938 or 950 MARC tags, you may now add them to your current bib records. These tags let you store item-specific information for each media item.
Use these steps to add both authority-controlled and non-authority-controlled tags to a bib record.
To add a MARC tag to a record
1 | Open the bib record you want to edit. |
For instructions, search for information about “finding and opening an existing bib record” in the Cataloging Setup Guide.
2 | Choose Edit, Add Tag from the Cataloging Menu bar. |
Cataloging displays the Add Tag dialog box.
3 | Enter the number of the tag you want to add. |
In this case, enter 938 or 950.
Horizon highlights the tag in the list of tags.
4 | Click Add Tag. |
The new tag appears in the bib record with any subfields you have previously defined. Subfields must be previously defined when the tag is set up. Also, subfields for the 938 and 950 tags are not repeatable.
After you create a tag to use for media items, you can do any of these tasks, as necessary:
• | Edit a MARC tag. |
• | Edit text in a subfield. |
• | Delete a MARC tag. |
For instructions, search for information about “MARC Editing” in the Cataloging Guide.
