After you have started all of your XSL processors, you must start the Application Server process. The Application Server process directs all Application Server activities. (For example, when a patron executes a keyword search, the Application Server process ensures that Information Portal searches the correct indexes and displays the correct search results.)
You must start all of your XSL processors before you start the Application Server process (JBoss). JBoss can connect only to running XSL processors as it starts. (For instructions, see Starting an XSL Processor (UNIX).)
To start the Application Server process as a console application
1 | Open a console session to your Application Server. |
2 | At the “#” prompt, enter this command: |
cd Application Server software installation directory/jboss/bin
For example, enter this:
cd /opt/dynix/appserver/jboss/bin
3 | At the “#”prompt, enter this command: |
./run.sh
The Application Server information scrolls on the screen. When you have successfully started the Application Server process, you will see a message like this one:
JBoss 3.2.1 started in [minutes:seconds]
4 | If you want to, minimize this window, but do not close it. |
To start the Application Server process as a Linux daemon
1 | Open a console session to your Application Server. |
2 | At the “#” prompt, enter this command: |
/etc/init.d/hzapp start
3 | After a few minutes, verify that Application Server process is running by using a browser to connect to the Application Server. |
