Adding a Z39.50 Index

Once you have added a Z39.50 library, you must add the Z39.50 indexes (or search types) for that library. Users cannot search on a Z39.50 library database until you define the Z39.50 indexes and then link your Information Portal indexes to the Z39.50 indexes. (You link these through the universal ID. For more information on universal IDs, see Universal IDs.) You must add an index in Information Portal for each index that you want to let users search on for every Z39.50 library. Each Z39.50 index is library-specific.

You can also change information for a Z39.50 index or delete one that you are no longer using.

If you want to, you can add alternate universal IDs for an index. (For more information, see Adding an Alternate Universal ID for a Z39.50 Index.)
