SQL Basics

For more information about SQL statements, see “Using SQL Statements in the Table Editor” in the “Getting Started” chapter of the System Administration Guide, or see your Sybase or Microsoft documentation.

An SQL statement lets you search for rows that contain or match specific data. To make an SQL statement, you can specify these things:

The column name of the grid that you want to search by.
The specific conditions of the search. (This is optional. If you do not enter conditions, Horizon selects the entire table.)
How you want to sort the chosen records. (This is optional.)

You must follow these guidelines when entering SQL statements:

Enter a date in the form of month‑day‑year, such as 3‑15‑03.

If you are searching in a column whose information is in code form, enter the text between quotation marks. For example, if you were using a SQL statement to filter a list by location you would enter this:

location = “main”

The word main would be in quotes because it is a coded form.

Enter columns names exactly as they appear on the Grid Configurations Options window. (To see a list of column names used in Closed Stack Access, see Closed Stack Access Grids and Columns.)
